Position Title: Major Gifts Officer


Reports To: Executive Director


Department: Advancement


Location: Tomorrow's Hope Foundation Headquarters, Long Island, NY

Position Summary:


The Major Gifts Officer plays a pivotal role in advancing the mission of Tomorrow’s Hope Foundation by cultivating and securing significant financial support from individual donors, corporations, and foundations. This individual will develop and manage a portfolio of major gift prospects, build strong relationships, and work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to secure philanthropic investments that ensure Catholic elementary schools remain accessible and affordable for families on Long Island.

Key Responsibilities:


Donor Cultivation and Stewardship


• Identify, qualify, and manage a portfolio of 100–150 major gift prospects and donors.
• Build meaningful relationships with donors, understanding their philanthropic goals, and aligning them with the Foundation’s mission and priorities.
• Conduct regular donor visits, including face-to-face meetings, virtual calls, and attendance at Foundation events, to cultivate and steward relationships effectively.
• Develop personalized engagement plans and tailor solicitation strategies for each donor.


Fundraising and Solicitation


• Collaborate with leadership to create and execute a comprehensive major gifts strategy.
• Solicit gifts of $25,000 and above, including multi-year commitments, to support Tomorrow’s Hope Foundation’s programs and campaigns.
• Work with the Advancement team and Executive Director to identify and leverage
opportunities for planned giving and blended gift arrangements.


Event Participation

• Play a key role in donor engagement events, including the STAR Gala, 5K Run, and Golf Outing, and “A Christmas Evening,” ensuring seamless donor involvement and recognition.
• Collaborate with event committees to identify prospective donors and sponsor opportunities.


Reporting and Coordination


• Maintain accurate donor records in the Raiser’s Edge database, documenting all interactions and updating donor profiles.
• Prepare proposals, reports, and stewardship materials for donors, ensuring timely and professional communication.
• Collaborate with the Advancement team to align major gifts efforts with annual giving,
planned giving, and campaign priorities.

Qualifications:

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Nonprofit Management, Communications, orBusiness).

• Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in major gift fundraising or a related field.

• Proven track record of securing gifts of $25,000 and above.

• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to craftcompelling proposals and presentations.

• Experience managing donor databases (preferably Raiser’s Edge).

• Willingness to travel across Long Island and occasionally beyond for donor meetings and events.

 

Preferred:

• Knowledge of Catholic education and its impact on communities.

• Familiarity with Long Island’s philanthropic landscape.

• Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks efficiently.

• Mission Alignment: A deep passion for the mission of Tomorrow’s Hope Foundation and Catholic education.

Work Environment:

• The position is based at Tomorrow’s Hope Foundation Headquarters, with flexibility for remote work when appropriate.

• Attendance at evening and weekend events is required as part of donor engagement efforts.
